Master Benny Teh created his own style call " Street TaeKwon-Do " it is a style of traditional TaeKwon-Do but in street TaeKwon-Do we do not use many high kicking like what competition did , we focus on low kick and use lots of hand techniques .

I would like to congratulate our Malaysia IOTF members Miss Loh Pui Keng from Johor Baharu been promoted to 4th degree black belt by IOTF , and she also the first female in IOTF Malaysia to achieved the rank of 4th degree black belt , and i hope this will motivate more of female in joining this wonderful art of self defense of TaeKwon-Do .

Here is some news that I regret to publish on our web site however, it is necessary for the integrity of our organization and future of Taekwon-Do. If you could please publish this news ASAP, it would be very much appreciated.

Greetings Members,

It has come to our attention through the IOTF-M National Director of Malaysia, Master Ooi Kiat "Benny" Teh, that one appointment to the State Director of Johor, Mr. Pooi Eng Seong, is demonstrating inappropriate business and also violates the tenets of Taekwon-Do of which we all desire to uphold.

Mr. Seong's failure to follow the proper procedures for black belt Dan testing and other related official business of the IOTF is without a doubt, a violation of standard protocol and will not be tolerated. By allowing a representative in our organization to continue these methods of unsanctioned business, would be considered "organizational suicide."

These acts of insubordination brings deep dishonor to our organization and to Taekwon-Do specifically. It is unconscionable to discover that someone of this rank and years of dedication would allow his integrity to be tainted. Furthermore, if we as Senior Masters and Masters of Taekwon-Do stand by and do nothing, we too would be guilty of such a dishonorable act.

So, it is by deep regret, that the IOTF Executive Board revoke Mr. Pooi Eng Seong from the position of State Director of Johor-Malaysia and also with this decree hereby withdraw any rank that was certified through the IOTF, specifically the rank of IV Dan (4th Dgree) certificate number OT-4-04 dated 02-20-10 and III Dan (3rd Degree) certificate number OT-3-25 dated 07-10-09.

There comes no enjoyment in this decision to expunge or expel one of its members from an organization however, it is better that one is cut off from the hurd, than many be lead astray.

Been questioned by many Martial Artists , can ITF TaeKwon-Do be use in the street ??? my answer " YES " but why a Black Belt 2nd degree holder easily beaten up by a non Martial Artist ??? many blamed him , but to me i will blame his Instructor , now a days i notice many instructors are not really understand what is TaeKwon-Do , especially now many instructors ( Youngster ) just looking for " Dan " and not really have the skill that match the belt they are wearing .they just showing their students by performing a nice and beautiful high kick that is call TaeKwon-Do and worst came to they told the students they can go out to fight anyone with the high kicking technique . actually they are killing the students . during the street , you don't have the chance to use your so call " High kicking " Only a punch and a kick to the leg will finish the fight !!! I trained with many Martial Artist like Karate ,Muay Thai , Free style and many , they don't use high kick at all because it happened in just few second ,so no time for your " High kicking " what u can do is just a punch or take down and kick to the leg , i urged all TaeKwon-Do Instructors , please understand that " High kicking only can apply on point sparring NOT in the street " . and please do not destroy the name of ITF TaeKwon-Do , we as ITF TaeKwon-Do Masters and Instructors have the responsibility to take care the Art .

It was a fantastic days when i came to this Muay Thai gym at Johor Baharu , Muay Thai they are fast , aggressive , consistent and with no doubt they have the " Killing power " every punch and kick mainly to destroy opponents body, say the Master . we train the whole day from morning until night about 9pm , i realized that Muay Thai is the most unique martial art in street . the honours given to me by the master , he allowed me to teach it to my students . . thanks to Muay Thai Master .

We will concur with your ongoing and recent assessment of Mr. Seong Pooi. We will have his name taken from the IOTF Black belt list and also declare on the web site that he has been removed from the position of State Director per your recommendation. I think it best to make a statement also about his lack of the Tenets of Taekwon-Do which has brought his demise and disgrace to the IOTF.

Let me know what you think before we print the final declaration. It will be fatal to his career in Taekwon-Do throughout the World.

Many organizations forget the tenets of Taekwon-Do. Integrity, being the important one.
If I do nothing more as President of the IOTF,than to bring this organization into existence, it will be to maintain the integrity that Gen Choi entrusted to me.

Gen, Choi said to me that not only am I his trusting student, but I am his friend. Master Benny, I also say unto you, "not only are you a trusting student, you are a true friend."

I can't wait until we can get together to share more experiences and training. You are one that I trust to pass my knowledge onto. There are very few that I share the detailed training of Taekwon-Do with that was passed on to me from the general. Not all are privileged to receive the secretes of the art.

TaeKwon-Do is an unarmed combat used in self-defense , utilizing the skilled application of Punch , Strikes , Kick and Block with both hands and feet . There are two major methods of TaeKwon-Do fighting , The Non -Contact and Full Contact , In Non-Contact , all attacks completed before it landed to opponent's body to protect the opponent's body from injury ,limited protective can be used to protect from injury , such as , head gear , gloves chest protector . mouth guards .
The most powerful techniques alone will not ensure your success , In order to become a good fighter , you must be able to use your technique effectively with your power and speed ,since your opponent will not always allowed to a perfect angle , you have to be creative in changing your ways of fighting stance and technique faster that your opponents in order to obtain an advantage over your opponent .

One of my friend came to me when he saw me training kicking technique in the office , he told me that he was a Martial Artist ( Ving Tsung ) before until he met an accident broke his arm in 2003 , he stop his training because he couldn't use his left arm anymore , when he know that i am a TaeKwonDo instructor he wish that i can teach my kicking technique to him , i told him before i start to teach him he need to stop smoking and alcohol , that is the basic training for all the Martial Artist , after 3 months until today , i can see he is trying his very best to reduce alcohol and smoking , than i will now consider to teach him the technique of ITF TaeKwonDo .

The Back Kick

When you are ready to try the back kick , i wish to emphasize two things .

1) Once you decided to use back kick , you can't have the second thoughts and you can't stop in the middle of the execution , you can't turn halfway and leave your back exposed to your opponents

2) It is imperative that you follow up the back kick counter with at least another technique , Even if you stop your opponent with a perfect back kick , still follow and finished it , chances are however the back kick will either miss or only partially landed on the intended target , in this case , you must go on the offensive and continue with an attack.

Since the day i started TaeKwonDo (ITF) in 1976 , my intention is to promote TaeKwonDo (ITF) to all the young generations in Malaysia ( This is my commitment to my Master ) but sadly to say that now all the youngster not active in the sport , most of them are physically not fit enough , why ? because most of them now are all sitting in front of the computer with compute game , not out door sport , to all parents , TeaKwonDo will teach yours child how to defense themselves and other in an emergency situation , beside that TeaKwonDo teach the 5 Tenets ,
COURTESY ,INTEGRITY , PERSEVERANCE , SELF-CONTROL , INDOMITABLE SPIRIT. so , give your child a opportunity , to take up TeaKwonDo .

I was invited to a tournament as a senior judge somewhere last year , i was not with my coat because i feel hot, i always sit at the middle of the table with my assistant judge sitting left and right of me , here are something happen , one of the black belt gentleman came to tell me that i can't sit middle because i am not a senior judge , immediately my assistant judge ask him why ? he reply because i don't wear coat it means i am not a senior judge , after this , my assistant scored him and instruct him to apologizes to me than ask his instructor come and tell him not necessary senior judge must wear coat , those who wear coat not necessary they are senior , after that the instructor apologized and keep saying sorry to me and my assistant .

I was with a group of TaeKwonDo instructors during seminar couple of months ago , there is a young man introduced himself as a 4th dan (ITF) i just smile and say "keep training hard" what did he ask me ? he ask me "what dan are you" my reply was " i got no dan , " he than say "why are you here" i reply again " because i want to learn from the seminar" after this i ask him "who is your instructor"? and i told him that been a TKD (ITF) student , will never ask about the dan , dan is not so important , important is that the skill and the behavior as a martial artist .

There is a guy came to me introduced himself to me by saying that he is a TeaKwonDo black belt 3rd dan , and would like to join me with the motive to take his 4th dan , I ask him come for training with me , but he told me that he is training in kajang with GTF , that's funny ! how come he is training with GTF , yet he want to take his 4th dan with ITF ? why not taking with GTF ? his reason was GTF too much political issue , but i don't think this gentleman is fit to sit for his 4th dan yet , will see when he will come to my dojang for training , what a sad thing in TaeKwonDo , why all the young guys so crazy about Dan ? is it Dan so important to them ?.

1976 - Started TaeKwon-D0 (ITF) under Malaysia TaeKwon-Do Federation (MTF) instructor Mr Robert Lai (Migrated to Australia 1983)

1980 - Received 1^st degree black belt from Mr Robert Lai, at the same year selected captain for the school TaeKwon-Do team to many tournaments

1981 - Selected “The youngest TaeKwon-Do Instructor” in Malaysia by magazine “Fun Fair”

1983 - Promoted to 2^nd degree by Mr Robert Lai

1986 - Promoted to 3^rd degree by Mr Tan Eng Seng (MTF assistant chief instructor )

1986-1998 - Joined WTF with my instructor Mr Tan Eng Seng, represent state and club to many tournaments, won many medals

1998 - Back to ITF (MITF )

2000 - Received 4th degree black belt from ITFM .

2002- Received 5^th degree black belt from ITFM .

2004 - Received 6th degree black belt from Global TaeKwonDo Federation (GTF)

2007 - Meet ITF Co. founder GM CK Choi ( 9th degree black belt) .and been appointed as the first TaeKwonDo pioneer in Malaysia by GM CK Choi , responsibly to Reunion all the taekwondoists in Malaysia , commitment to GM CK Choi.

2008 - Received 6^th degree black belt( M-6-145 ) and appointed representative in Malaysia by World lln-TaeKwon Martial Art Federation , founder GM JJ LEE ( 9th degree black belt) ITF TaeKwon-Do Pioneer .

2009- Been Promoted to 7th Dan black belt(OT-7-14 ) by Grandmaster Len. G Kirschbaum ( President & Founder of International Original TaeKwon-Do Federation . IOTF) and Board of Directors . Appointed as National Director in Malaysia .

Why counter attack

Offense and defense are both important when free sparring ,but counterattack is the most important , it can cause more accident to your opponents , and it takes offense off the opponent's mind .It is to your advantage to be able to anticipate your opponent's open spots ,and attack accordingly , Exact time is necessary to take advantage of your opponent's momentum ,and the inability to avoid your counterattack .
Always counterattack by the shortest distance possible, after avoiding your opponent's attack in the shortest distance possible. It is most importance to keep your eyes on the opponent at all times, please never turn your head away from the opponent.
Counterattack techniques will teach the mind to react calmly in an emergency situation.Normally we never think about attacking or fighting. Therefore, in an emergency situation , we do not know the necessary movements to avoid and counterattack. Unconsciously we try to run away giving the opponent another chance to attack us .
